We had our second emergency room experience in a foreign country. For stitches. This time G.
He fell off the couch onto one of our air purifiers. Dang pollution!
We told him on the way to the hospital he would have to sit very still. So as soon as he laid down, he got in the zone.
Apparently the muscles underneath the cut were damaged. The doctor had to cut more of his skin so he could sew the muscles back together. So it was like having a mini surgery! And he sat still the whole time.
He ended up having two layers of stitches. About 20 total.
He missed a few days of school so I emailed his teacher to tell her what was up and to give her a heads up when he comes back. She emailed me about his first day back. Here's what she said...
Oh yes…he did indeed say "cracked his head open" and "lot's of blood" and "the doctor used a needle and I watched him sew my skin together." The ending of a raspberry jam filled chocolate was a highlight too. I was trying so hard not to laugh as he did his retell. Leo's body language was hysterical as G retold everything. You could tell that Leo wasn't sure to be shocked and totally grossed out, burst into tears at the whole thing, or ask questions to find out more.
G is such a trip! I am going to miss him next year!
G is pretty expressive.
Here's what it looked like.
And then he got the stitches taken out. Back in the zone.
The Chinese hospital experience wasn't bad. It was clean and the staff was efficient. No complaints. Both times we went to the hospital, we got a chocolate. It seems super weird to me, but there was a gourmet chocolate shop in the emergency room. They were really good! And about $2 each. Ugh. So we only got one each time. And I hope I never have to go back.
